Wellbeing
Our Senior Students have commenced some exciting and empowering programs designed to help them achieve their personal best!
Lakeside College has partnered with eminent organisation Elevate Educate to support our Year 12 students’ navigation through their final year of studies. Recently, every Year 12 student had a 1-hour consultation with an Elevate Educate expert to ascertain their approach to study and study skills. Following their diagnoses, students were grouped in small groups and linked with an Elevate Educate coach via Zoom to commence a 10-week coaching program. Within their Pastoral Care classes, our students will meet with their coach to review their week, seek advice and receive guidance to apply effective study skills and make the most of their study time for most of the remaining semester.
Our Year 10 and Year 11 students are connecting with a program called High Performance Mindfulness. Created by Emma Murray, national-level athlete and accredited mindfulness coach, the program adopts the strategies she has applied to her own family, when her son became a quadraplegic at 13 after an accident, and with other well-known, successful athletes and sports teams in motorsport and Australian Rules Football.
“Everyone from students to stay-at-home parents, to CEOs and sportspeople can recognise what is required for them to do their best in each and every moment…that is when they start to feel re-energised, connected to their passions, confident and valuable. It is only then that ‘struggle’ is replaced with calmness, optimism, acceptance and worthiness.”

In the next few weeks, our Year 10 and 11 students will start thinking and talking about their ‘A’ game and their ‘B’ game and it would be terrific if you could ask them about it!
We are looking forward to some exciting learning and personal growth experiences for our Senior secondary students this year!
