Student Leadership Report

Written by our Student Leaders

Dear Saltwater Community,

What a term we have had with out student leadership team.

Year 5 - Unit of Inquiry

In this unit of inquiry, I learnt all about Leaders. They help us and make things fair by proper governance. They take advice and consider using it to make the land better.  We can’t have a land with no rules. Without rules, we will be all over the place and I don’t think we want that. Leaders leave behind their legacy and want others to carry it on.

Taniksha SAYYAPARAJU - 5A

Leadership is the ability to inspire and influence multiple people and guide them to their goals. Leadership is something that you can learn, you don’t have to be famous to be a leader. You can be a parent, kid, or anyone else that can be looked up to.

Leadership is more than just giving orders, it is inspiring others to do their best and pushing them to their limits. One example of a leader is Jane Fonda, who was not only an actor but also a political activist who fought for women’s rights, climate change and other environmental causes.

Leadership can empower anyone to make a positive impact on the world around them.

Mekdes TEKA 5A

Leadership is not a position or title; it is a mindset and a set of actions that inspire and empower those around you.

A leader means to me is someone who is fair and does not just want to be famous because people will like them. They work until they get up to that level you must work hard for what you want in life, and it comes someday. One of the leaders I did was Marie Curie and something that you can learn from her is that she tried to discover radium and polonium which were the treatments which was used for her daughter.

Mia Draper - 5A

Leadership skills involve being able to effectively communicate and work with others to achieve a common goal. Good leaders can listen to different perspectives, make decisions, and take responsibility for their actions. Developing leadership skills can help you become a more confident and successful person in school, sports, and future career opportunities.

Inaya BHARDWAJ - 5A

Harmony Day

Harmony Day was an amazing opportunity for our Year Five and Six leaders to execute their leadership skills. The day was a great success, with our leaders running many of our activities.

Activities that our students organised include Face Painting, Henna Art, Hula Hooping, Rangoli Chalk Drawing, Downball, Double Dutch Skipping, Chinese Calligraphy and Marngrook Indigenous AFL.

Congratulations to our Five and Six leaders on a great representation of leadership as they volunteered their free time towards supporting their school community.

Student Leadership - Action

For our first whole School fundraiser for 2024, we are partnering with International Needs Australia (INA) to run the Read 4 Purpose ‘Read a Thon’. INA works to invest in the livelihood and education of Women and Children in a variety of third-world countries. This fundraiser is raising money to better education for Indian women and children.

In this video, you can find a video to better understand the fundraiser, as well as their website www.readforpurpose.com.au

We will be running the fundraiser until the end of Term One.

Please encourage your child to create an account, and start reading and getting sponsors from their nearest and dearest.
