Gandhi House

This term has been full of opportunities for students to represent Gandhi House, including this week’s House Week competition. Thank you to all those who contributed to House Week either as participants or supporters. We had massive numbers across Volleyball, GeoGuesser and Paper Toss so a huge well done to all involved and thank you to Mandela and Lincoln for some fun competition. Results will be announced next week so keep an eye out on the House board and notices!

Next up for Gandhi House is our Charity Day Colour Run which will be held in the afternoon of the last day of school this term, Thursday 28 March. We will be heading down to Ozone Reserve in East Perth and students will be required to bring an old white shirt to run in and a clean shirt to change into to return to school. This year, we are donating money to UNICEF to support children in war torn countries. It will be a great afternoon .

Finally, good luck to all our Gandhi athletes competing in next week’s ACC Swimming Carnival and NWAS Carnivals. We are very proud to have you in our House and congratulations on having the opportunity to represent our school.

Lincoln House

This week we continued our termly House Week competition with three contests of skill and mental prowess – Paper Throwing Obstacle Course, junior and senior volleyball and Geoguessr (a game where students guess on a world map a location they are given).

The competition between the Houses has been close, and as of writing both Lincoln Volleyball teams are currently undefeated!

As we move into the final weeks of Term One, it has been heartwarming to see the active participation of Lincoln students in School and House events. We have had an excellent start to the year, and I encourage all Lincoln students to sign up and get involved in Term Two’s House Week events.

As we move into our final weeks of the term, I would like to remind all of Lincoln to continue being the great students that they are. To remain respectful and to engage positively with their teachers and peers. Of course, if this means they earn a few House tokens along the way, remember to pop them in the House jar before we do our final count in Week 9.

Mandela House

Only two weeks of school left, and it feels like we have just begun the term.

This week kicked off with our first House Week event. We tried something different this year and had a Paper Throwing Obstacle Course Competition. It was great to see so many younger students participating, and interesting to see how well they make a paper plane! Thank you to Gandhi and Lincoln for the friendly competition, it was a great first House Week of 2024. Stay tuned for the winner, announced later next week.

Our Friendly Mandela PCG Competitions started up again last week in PCG, well done Miss Bauer’s M1 for taking the win! Today was the Oreo Face Competition, where students had try get an Oreo from their forehead to their mouth, with no hands, in the quickest time. It was a site to see!

Keep up the great work Mandela, and good luck to all Mandela Superstars, who are competing in the ACC Swimming Carnival and NWAS Carnivals.

Thanks to all Mandela students for your continued involvement and House Spirit. We are truly very lucky to have such wonderful students at St George’s and Mandela House.
