Extra-Curricular Success

Celebrating Student Achievements Beyond the Classroom

We love celebrating the incredible things our students accomplish beyond the classroom! Whether it is success in sport, the arts, community service, or any other area, we want to share their stories.

If your child has achieved something special, please let us know by emailing the details to sonia.powell@gsg.wa.edu.au

We look forward to showcasing their achievements in our newsletter!

Athletics Success for Zoë Bascombe

We congratulate Year Twelve student Zoë Bascombe (Baudin) on an outstanding weekend of competition at the Under 20 and Open Athletics events.

Zoë achieved two bronze medals, one in the Long Jump and another in the 400m Hurdles, where she also recorded a time under the National Qualifying standard, an exceptional achievement at this level.

Adding to her success, Zoë ran a personal best of 12.79 seconds in the 100m sprint.

Well done, Zoë! We are incredibly proud of your hard work, determination and impressive results.

Outstanding Results at the 2026 Karratha Country Pennants

The Country Pennants is a highlight of regional swimming, bringing Western Australian country clubs together for a weekend that celebrates teamwork, community spirit and athletic achievement. Unlike traditional meets, the Pennants focus on team performance rather than individual standings.

Representing the Mount Barker Barracudas in C Division, Year Eleven student Jack Rowe (Baudin) and Year Six student Ava Rowe (Baudin) contributed to an exceptional team result. Mount Barker won their division and will move up to B Grade next year, a significant milestone for the club, which only recently competed in D Division. The team also claimed the C Division Relay Trophy, marking a memorable achievement.
