All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Catholic Education Week 15-22 March 2026

Catholic Education Week will be celebrated in Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne from 15-22 March 2026. This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great things that take place in Catholic schools every day.

The theme for this year’s celebrations is:

“Christ beside me: Walking in the footsteps of Saint Patrick”.

This year’s theme celebrates the significance of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of our local Church in Melbourne. Through the story of St Patrick, our students at St Louis' are invited to see Patrick as a person who trusted God in faith, even when he experienced great hardship and adversity. St Patrick revealed God’s love and compassion to the people of Ireland, and lived Jesus’ commandment to love others.

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, our mother Church, is named after the saint of Ireland.

Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne to celebrate their Catholic identity, the pivotal role they play within their local community and the strength of the sector.

Catholic education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and walk the way of the gospel to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society.

335 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne educate around 150,000 students and employ more than 20,000 teachers and staff, and most will celebrate Catholic Education Week in some way. The school captains, the Faith and Social Justice Leaders, and me will be catching the train to St Patrick's Cathedral next Friday to proudly represent our school at the Catholic Education Week Mass and Concert.  (Can you spot a glimpse of our banner in the above photo from last year's Mass?)

We also have our St Patrick's Day Sausage Sizzle at school on Tuesday, 17th March (St Patrick's actual feast day), where students are encouraged to wear a touch of green.

At school, students will be learning about the life and challenges of St Patrick and his unwavering love and devotion to God. On a shamrock, students write and illustrate one way they can be like St Patrick and share the love of Christ with others. These will be displayed in the school corridor.

Families will also get the opportunity to decorate a shamrock and return to school for display. (Details will be sent home shortly)
