Term 1 House Leader Update

The House Leader Team is proud to represent and promote the values of Homestead Senior Secondary College (HSSC): Purpose, Curiosity, Resilience, and Innovation. This term, our focus has been on the Bunjil value of Purpose, encouraging students to demonstrate pride and commitment in all they do.

In March, the Bunjil House Leader Team celebrated International Women’s Day with a meaningful initiative. We organised a bake sale that brought together the entire school community in support of an important cause. Students, families, and staff contributed generously, helping us raise $189.41 for women and children affected by domestic violence. All proceeds were donated to White Ribbon Australia. We sincerely thank everyone for their support and participation.

The House team would also like to extend a sincere thanks to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this event possible. A special thanks to Lisa and Brooke in the café for their help with setting up and packing up, Neena and Robyn for managing the financial aspects, and the Wellbeing Team—Emma and Bethany—for their support during lunch and recess. Thank you as well to all staff members and members of the school community who donated money or contributed baked goods. Without your support, this event would not have been possible.

In addition, we hosted several lunchtime activities, including a dodgeball competition and trivia quizzes, which have quickly grown in popularity. Students who participated—and particularly the winners—were rewarded with canteen vouchers.

Additionally, our student leaders attended the GRIP Leadership Conference, where schools from across Melbourne came together. It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm and pride students have for their schools. The conference offered a range of sessions focused on public speaking, organising house activities, event hosting, and many other valuable leadership skills.

The House Team is excited to continue building on this momentum and looks forward to delivering more engaging and enjoyable activities in Term 2.
