CIS Swimming
Last week, Frankie Somerville and Giselle Tapfield represented IGSA at the CIS Swimming Championships. Frankie competed in the 50m Freestyle, while Giselle competed in the 50m Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Backstroke. Giselle placed first in the Freestyle and Backstroke, 2nd in the Butterfly and 3rd in the Breaststroke. She also swam a PB in the freestyle!
Both students swam exceptionally well, with Giselle qualifying for the NSW All Schools Championships, which will be held later in May.
Congratulations to both Giselle and Frankie on their outstanding performances.

Senior School Athletics
On Tuesday 5 May, we held the Senior School Athletics Carnival and what a wonderful day it was. With perfect weather and plenty of school spirit, the atmosphere throughout the day was outstanding.
It was especially pleasing to see a record number of students not only attend the carnival, but also actively compete across the various events. The girls demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm and determination as they ran, jumped and threw to the very best of their ability. We were incredibly proud to see everyone participating with such energy and commitment.
A special thank you must go to our exceptional Year 12 cohort. Their enthusiasm, involvement and respectful attitude contributed greatly to the success and enjoyment of the day. They continue to be outstanding role models within our school community.

Saturday Sport
Saturday sport got off to a successful start on the 2nd of May, with all girls displaying great determination and teamwork. I was able to watch Kambala 4 and 6’s basketball matches at Concord Recreation Centre, before heading to E.S. Marks and watching Kambala 4’s soccer match. We had a number of great wins across the board.
Kambala 3 Basketball is my team of the week as they showed resilience and optimism to come away with a 17-point win, despite only having five players and no substitutes. This was extremely impressive, especially given that PLC Sydney had a team of ten players. Well done to Sophie, Alyssa, Perry, Katherine and Charlotte! Kambala 3 Soccer also replicated these qualities as they won 5 vs 4 in their match. Amazing work girls!

Cross-Country
We had 51 students enjoy a fantastic day at the Cross-Country event held at Frensham on Friday. All girls demonstrated excellent commitment and perseverance throughout their races. Most notably, there was a strong display of school spirit and camaraderie, with students cheering on and encouraging one another across all year groups. We are proud to congratulate Aria Calabro and Piper Sweeny who have now been invited to the CIS carnival in June given their top 15 finishes on Friday. We wish them the best of luck!

Sat 9th May Recap
We have had another great weekend of Saturday sport, with our students once again demonstrating outstanding skill, teamwork and determination across a range of games. I was fortunate to spend much of the day at Sydney University watching our Kambala basketball teams compete, and it was wonderful to see the energy, commitment and sportswoman ship on display throughout the competition. Coming away with a number of wins was just an added bonus!
