Boarding

As we move through another busy and rewarding fortnight in boarding, there have been several highlights that reflect the spirit, enthusiasm and sense of community within our house.

One of the standout moments was the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb, where boarders, GAP students and staff took on one of Sydney’s most iconic experiences together. With perfect weather and spectacular views across the harbour, it was a memorable day that gave us all a new appreciation for the bridge that forms part of our everyday outlook from Kambala.

Our boarders also brought outstanding energy and participation to the Kambala Athletics Carnival. It was wonderful to see girls across all year groups getting involved, whether competing seriously, participating for house points or simply encouraging one another from the sidelines. The spirit shown throughout the day was a fantastic reflection of the boarding community.

A group of boarders and I attended the recent Rock Concert to support Eve and her rock band, alongside the many talented school performers who took to the stage. It was a fun evening and a great opportunity to celebrate the creativity and confidence of our students beyond the classroom.

Over the past two Saturdays, I have also had the pleasure of watching many of our boarders represent Kambala on the netball courts. It has been wonderful to see the girls competing with determination, teamwork and pride while supporting one another both on and off the court.

These moments continue to remind us of the importance of connection, participation and shared experiences in creating such a vibrant boarding community.

Weekend Rec Activities

The Kambala Boarding community recently shared a truly memorable experience, with 28 of our students, GAP students and staff taking part in the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge climb.

With fantastic weather setting the scene, the group set out to conquer one of Australia’s most recognisable landmarks. For many of our boarders, the bridge is a constant presence, framed perfectly in our harbour view each day. However, this experience offered a completely new perspective. Along the way, we also learned about the rich history of the bridge and the remarkable engineering behind its construction, adding depth and meaning to the experience. Standing at the summit, looking out across Sydney, it was a powerful moment of reflection and appreciation.

Adding to the significance of the day, Sonya in Year 9 celebrated her birthday in unforgettable style. Being sung “Happy Birthday” at the summit of the Harbour Bridge is certainly a story she will carry with her for years to come.

It was also particularly special to have three sets of sisters take part in the climb. Sharing such a unique experience side by side has created lasting memories, and some incredible photos that will no doubt be treasured by their families.

To finish the day, we travelled home by ferry as the sun set behind the Harbour Bridge, taking time to reflect on the memories made and the shared experience of such a special day.

Saturday Sport

Saturday Sport is now well underway and most of our boarders are actively participating in Netball, Football and Basketball.

Events

The annual Kambala Athletics Carnival was once again a wonderful demonstration of boarding spirit. Boarders were well represented in events across all age groups, with some girls participating enthusiastically to earn house points and others challenging themselves in highly competitive events throughout the day.

A highlight of the carnival was the much-anticipated Day Girl vs Boarder Relay. This year, the boarders were narrowly defeated in a race that was neck-and-neck the entire way and cheered on with tremendous energy from the sidelines.

Congratulations to our relay team of Tiffany, Isla, Izzy, Noa, Eva and Rachel, who represented the boarding house with determination, teamwork and pride.
