KLA Feature: Year 12

Year 12 Journey

Year 12 have made a strong and purposeful start to the year, setting a positive tone for the months ahead. It has already been a busy period, with many students showing real dedication to their studies by making the most of the recent holidays. Holiday study sessions were well attended, with students using this time to consolidate their learning, stay organised, and prepare for the demands of their final year. This commitment has been encouraging to see and reflects a growing sense of responsibility across the cohort.

Beyond the classroom, students embraced the opportunity to come together at the recent school Athletics Carnival. The day was filled with energy, colour, and house spirit, with many Year 12 students leading the way in creative dress-ups and enthusiastic participation. A highlight of the day was the much-anticipated 100m cohort race, which brought plenty of excitement and friendly competition. Events like this continue to strengthen the sense of unity and school pride within the group.

Year 12 students have also demonstrated a strong commitment to mission and service. Through their participation in the Good Friday Night Walk, students engaged in a solemn and deeply spiritual experience, walking together in reflection on the Passion of Christ. This overnight pilgrimage, structured around the Stations of the Cross, invited students to step away from the busyness of daily life and enter a space of prayer, sacrifice, and personal reflection. Walking through the night fostered a sense of endurance and spiritual purpose, while also strengthening community bonds as students supported one another along the journey.

In addition, students contributed enthusiastically to the Caritas Bake Sale last term, bringing in a variety of delicious cakes and sweet treats and helping to run the event. Their efforts not only raised valuable funds but also reflected the spirit of generosity, compassion, and social justice that is central to our school community.

Recently, students attended their Year 12 Social Day at St Dominic’s College, which proved to be an enjoyable and memorable experience. The day was filled with a range of fun activities that encouraged teamwork, laughter, and connection across the cohort. Students embraced the opportunity to step away from their studies, build stronger friendships, and celebrate this important stage of their schooling journey together.

Overall, Year 12 has started the year with focus, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of community. We look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow and make the most of every opportunity in what is a significant and memorable year.
