Careers Update

What’s been happening
During week 3 of this term the Year 10 students took part in work experience. Students were engaged in an array of jobs through various industries and locations all over the state. These experiences have been so important as the students embark on their course counselling meetings and making decision about their pathways in VCE and beyond. All the students appreciated trying out an industry which can help them decide if they want to pursue a career in this field.

Monash Engineering Girls
Be part of an innovative program for high school students and explore engineering.
Monash Engineering Girls (MEG) is an engagement program designed for young women who want to know about the possibilities of a career in engineering. Girls in Years 9 – 12 who like maths and science, are creative, a problem solver, enjoy working in a team and designing things, engineering might be the perfect career choice for them.
Students who join this program will have the opportunity to access events including hands-on experience days, online activities, workshops with the Engineering student teams, VIP tours of the Engineering precinct and special presentations.

La Trobe University
Experience La Trobe is back these June-July school holidays! This is a chance to visit and explore the Bundoora Campus, get hands-on with their study areas and become familiar with Uni life by taking part in fun and dynamic workshops led by lecturers.
Students will have the option to choose a workshop relevant to their area of interest.

Snapshot of Charles Sturt University (CSU) in 2026
- The history of Charles Sturt University dates back to 1895 but CSU was formally incorporated in July 1989 and is one of Australia's newer universities
- Charles Sturt University has three Faculties which comprise of several Schools and centres for specific areas of study and research –
- CSU has campuses in a number of locations and also has various campuses that offer specialist courses, such as theology, education, Terrorism & Security Studies, and policing. These include Albury-Wodonga, Canberra, Goulburn, and Parramatta.
- CSU offers a range of accommodation options to students across six campuses
- CSU offers a broad range of courses, from single subjects to postgraduate studies
- Charles Sturt University and Western Sydney University have partnered to offer a Joint Program in Medicine - Doctor of Medicine. Students are admitted to the Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine) / Doctor of Medicine combined program. After completing the first three years, students may either exit with a Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine) or progress to years four and five to complete the Doctor of Medicine requirements. On completion of the program students are awarded the Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine)/Doctor of Medicine. It is a five-year program taught in Orange, New South Wales.

Careers and Pathways
Congratulations to new SBAT Student – Rowan G
Date: 18/05/2026
Congratulations to Rowan G (Year 12) who signed up and commenced his Head Start school-based apprenticeship (SBAT) with employer Archon Electrical Services on 06/05/2026 and is now completing his Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.
The Head Start program will support Rowan as he embarks on his SBAT journey commencing his qualification certificate, attending work with his employer, and also working towards completing his VCE VM studies at school. Faith Kisby, Head Start Coordinator, and the Head Start team, wish Rowan all the best as he pursues his chosen career pathway.
