Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,
Welcome back to Term 2. It is hard to believe that this is the first newsletter of the term with so much happening. Ms Clarke and her grade represented us at the Hampton RSL Anzac Service where they sang Flanders Fields. We also had a moving Anzac assembly here at school led by Ms Cullen and our school leaders. School photos went smoothly and SEPS social reported a great night was had at the Parents 90s Gala. Today Mrs Gau, Ms Cullen and I are joining our Yr 6 team on the Year 6 camp to Canberra. We look forward to sharing the adventures with you in our next newsletter. I would like to thank Ms Thompson, Mr Daley and Ms Parsons for taking care of things in our absence.
If you have passed through the office in the last two weeks, you will have hopefully noticed our impressive digital notice board in the foyer. Compass will continue to be our main source of information however, we will post updates on the noticeboard so that you can find reminders, advertisements and upcoming events should you be looking for updates.
This week we have our Mother's Day stall and special picnic lunch. We hope to see all our mums, grandmothers and special friends. You are welcome to place a lunch order with our canteen or bring your own picnic lunch to the event. Hopefully, it is a nice day, and we can picnic out on the lawn. If the weather is not on our side, we will utilise the gym and learning spaces. Please find more details further in this newsletter.
The new junior playground has finally been installed after a lengthy wait. So many students have found me in the playground to advise that they love the new look and were grateful for the new equipment, which was lovely to hear. A few parents, however, have contacted our school council upset that we removed the old playground. As advised last year, the old playground was not meeting safety audits due to rust. Our SEPS Social team supported some of the funding and we were also able to use some of the contingency funds from our Capital Works program. We thank everyone for their contributions to our buildings and grounds fund and once we have more funds available, we will be able to continue with Phase 2 of the playground which includes monkey bars and climbing frames.
SEPS Academy started last Friday with numerous activities underway, including Lego Masters, Engineering, Nature Crafts, Drama Class, Basketball, Cheerleading, Dance & Music, Survivor Outdoor Challenge, Master Jewellers, Card Creators, Sketch and Draw, Parks & Rec, Write A Book In A Day ... and the list goes on. If you would like to assist with an activity or have expertise to share, please do not hesitate to reach out. We would love to have you join us.
Have a wonderful fortnight ahead.
Jane Briffa
