Principal's Report
Kaylene Kubeil
As you would have seen in the media, the AEU is escalating industrial action to secure better conditions for Victorian schools and staff. Regarding the rolling half-day stop-work action, we have been notified that it will take place at Whittlesea Primary School on Tuesday, 19th May. These half-day stoppages will take place in the morning. We have started initial planning for this day. Although I do not have details on the number of staff who will be participating or the classes that will need to be cancelled, I would like to share that school lessons will return to the 'normal' school day at 12.40 pm, with our school gates opening at 12.25 pm. We appreciate your patience as we work through this. We will communicate the confirmed details as soon as possible.
As reported in the media, there was a tragic accident that took place on Plenty Road earlier this week, which resulted in the injury of a 17-year-old and the death of a 15-year-old who was riding an illegal e-bike. As reported, the boy who passed away was a student at Lakes P-12 in South Morang. On behalf of Whittlesea Primary School, we extend our condolences and support to everyone in their school community. Unfortunately, incidents like these serve as a reminder of the importance of safety. As a reminder, e-bikes and e-scooters are illegal for anyone under 16. These e-vehicles are also not registered and, under no circumstances, should be ridden on our roads.
We invite all our families to attend the Whittlesea Township ANZAC Day March.
All students must assemble in FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM at the Whittlesea Bowls Club at 2.00 PM. Fall in at 2:20 PM and step off at 2:30 PM, walking to the Arch Memorial and then to the Soldier Memorial. We expect the March meeting to conclude between 3:30 and 4:00 PM. All students must be collected by a parent/guardian. Written permission must be provided for children to leave with another parent or to travel home independently. This event is OPT IN. If your child is unable to attend, we would appreciate your support by choosing 'DECLINE' in the event to assist with staffing and planning (via COMPASS)

I would also like to acknowledge our School Captains, who have diligently been selling ANZAC Day badges each morning. Thank you for your support.

This week, all our staff completed their First Aid training. This included both a practical assessment (demonstrations) and online theory modules. Well done to all our staff who fully engaged with the activities and demonstrated their dedication to ensuring we are looking after the health, safety and wellbeing of all our students, with this remaining a priority.
