Book a Tour!

Do you know a family with a child starting Prep next year? We’d love your help in spreading the word about our school.

We warmly invite prospective families to book a tour with me to see first-hand what makes Box Hill North Primary School such a special place to learn and grow. Our tours provide an opportunity to experience our classrooms in action, meet our staff, and gain a real sense of our strong focus on ambitious learning, student wellbeing, and a connected, supportive community.

If you know someone who may be interested, please encourage them to get in touch and book a tour. We would be delighted to welcome them and share what we’re so proud of.

Additionally, we’re excited to invite children who will be starting Prep in 2027 to join us for our Storytime Sessions. These sessions are a wonderful way for young children to begin building familiarity and confidence in a school setting, while enjoying engaging stories and simple, fun learning experiences.

Storytime will be led by our very own Prep teacher - Felicity Jenkins, recently recognised as the 2025 Early Career Teacher of the Year. Felicity brings warmth, creativity and a deep understanding of early learners, making these sessions a special introduction to school life.

We look forward to welcoming our future Prep students and their families along.

✨✨Open Night✨✨

We’re looking forward to welcoming our community to our upcoming Open Night on Wednesday 13 May from 5.00pm to 6.30pm.

Our students and teachers are excited to invite all parents and carers to come along and take part in the fun, hands-on learning activities planned across the school. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience learning in action and to see the pride our students take in their work.

The school will be open from Prep through to Year 6, and families are warmly encouraged to move around and explore different learning spaces. Whether you’re visiting your child’s classroom or stepping into other year levels, you’ll gain a great sense of how learning grows and develops across the school.

We hope to see you there!

Student Attitudes to School Survey

Our Years 4–6 students will soon take part in the annual Attitudes to School Survey, which will be conducted at our school between 11 May and 12 June. This voluntary survey provides students with an opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences about school, including their learning, wellbeing, relationships and sense of belonging.

The survey is completed online during class time and is designed to support schools in improving student engagement, wellbeing and learning outcomes. Student responses are confidential, and results are reported in group form only.

Further information, including the full parent information and consent details, will be shared with families via Compass in the coming days.

Industrial Action Update – Student Reports

You may be aware of upcoming industrial action involving teachers across the state. In consultation with School Council, we have made the decision to temporarily adjust our reporting process this semester.

To ensure that all staff feel supported in their participation, and that no individual teacher feels exposed, written comments will not be included in student reports. All other aspects of reporting, including assessment against the curriculum and achievement standards, will remain in place.

Wednesday 24 June will be a student-free Reporting to Parents Day. This will provide families with the opportunity to book a 15-minute meeting with their child’s teacher. We anticipate that this dedicated time will allow for meaningful discussion about your child’s achievement, progress and next steps for learning.

We also wish to share that the Department of Education has begun planning for greater consistency and clarity in government school reporting. This work is likely to see report formats evolve from 2027, including a more streamlined approach with significantly less space for individual written comments.

As a school, we believe it is important to support our teachers in their industrial action. This reflects the need for their work to be properly recognised and valued, acknowledging the important and complex role they play in supporting both student learning and wellbeing every day.

We understand that written comments are valued by families, and this is not a decision we have taken lightly. Our priority is to maintain a respectful and supportive environment for all staff, while continuing to provide clear information about student learning.

We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support during this time. If you have any questions about your child’s progress, please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher.
