NASCA Report

This term has been a very rewarding and eventful one for our NASCA program, with many opportunities for our students to engage, grow, and represent their culture and community with pride.

One of the highlights of the term was when four of our male students catered for a local men’s mental health event, centred around the theme of what it means to be strong Aboriginal men and the challenges that are often faced. It was a powerful and meaningful experience for all involved. The group also had the privilege of meeting two special guests, Cody Walker & Brandon Smith from the South Sydney Rabbitohs, who shared their time and insights, making the day even more memorable.

We are also proud to announce that our school’s Junior AECG members have been selected. A huge congratulations to Arora, Bailey, Skye, and Claire, we know you will represent your school, NASCA, and your community with great pride and leadership.

A special mention goes to our very talented artist, Claire, whose beautiful artwork depicting her sister and their story of connection to Country has been selected as the featured artwork for this year’s NASCA Annual Report. This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to her creativity and cultural expression.

To wrap up the term, two of our students participated in a fantastic community event alongside world champion boxer Shanell Dargan and renowned Australian boxing trainer Johnny Lewis. Students were inspired by Shanell’s journey, learning about her dedication and resilience, before getting involved in boxing and fitness drills, followed by sport and a well-earned sausage sizzle.

We are incredibly proud of all our students and their achievements this term, and we look forward to an exciting, busy, and jam-packed Term 2!
