Update from Inclusive Education

Inclusive Education Faculty Update – Term 1, 2026
Welcome to Term 1! As we begin the new school year, the Inclusive Education Faculty is delighted to continue our commitment to ensuring every student feels valued and supported. This year, we have introduced new class names and warmly welcomed 15 new Year 7 students to Thomas Reddall High School. It has been wonderful to see everyone settle smoothly into high school life, embracing new routines and opportunities.
Our focus this term has been on building accessible learning environments and fostering a culture of belonging across all classrooms. Along the way we enjoyed meeting some of our Year 7 families at our Year 7 Meet the Teacher afternoon. This was a great opportunity to welcome families, strengthen our school community, and discuss how we can best support students as they begin their high school journey.
On March 17, our students attended the Come and Try Athletics Day for students with disability across NSW. This event offered students the chance to experience athletics in a safe, supportive, and inclusive setting. Whether they were new to sport or looking to build confidence, skills, and enjoyment through participation, everyone had an enjoyable and rewarding day, developing both social and physical skills.
Looking ahead, Stage 4 students are excited about their upcoming excursion to the Blue Mountains on March 25, where they will visit the iconic Three Sisters. This experience, part of their Landscapes and Landforms Geography unit, allows students to contextualise their classroom learning with hands-on exploration in the natural environment. At school, some have enjoyed listening to the Dreamtime story of the Three Sisters, enriching their understanding of the site’s cultural significance.
Our staff are also been strengthening their expertise by planning and conducting PLsP meetings with families focused on developing Personalised Learning and Support Plans. This collaborative approach ensures we are providing the most effective and individualised support for all students.
