Child Safety

Ensuring a Safe Environment for All at Our School

At Our Lady Help of Christians, the safety and well-being of our students are our top priority. As part of our commitment to providing a safe learning environment, we strictly adhere to Victoria's 9 Child Safe Standards. These standards help ensure that every child is protected from harm and that our school remains a place where students feel safe, respected, and supported.

Here are some of the ways we meet the Child Safe Standards:

  1. Child Safety Code of Conduct: Every staff member at our school is required to review and sign our Child Safety Code of Conduct. This document outlines the expected behaviors and responsibilities of all staff members to ensure the protection of students and to prevent any form of abuse or neglect. Our staff understand the importance of modeling positive behaviors and acting with integrity at all times.

  2. Training and Awareness: We provide regular training to our staff to ensure that they are well-informed about child safety and are equipped with the knowledge and skills to protect our students. This includes recognizing signs of abuse, responding appropriately, and understanding their responsibilities under the Child Safe Standards.

  3. Volunteers and Visitors: We believe that all adults who interact with our students should be part of creating a safe school environment. As a result, we will be asking regular volunteers and visitors at our school to read and sign the Child Safety Code of Conduct. This ensures that everyone involved with our school community understands the importance of child safety and is aware of the behaviors that are expected when working with children.

  4. Safe Environment and Reporting Procedures: Our school fosters an open, supportive environment where students feel comfortable sharing any concerns. We have clear procedures in place for reporting any safety issues, and all concerns are taken seriously and addressed promptly. Our staff are always available to listen and act on behalf of the students’ safety and well-being.

By adhering to Victoria’s Child Safe Standards, we are not only complying with legal requirements but also ensuring that our students can learn and grow in an environment where their safety is always the top priority. We will continue to work together with staff, volunteers, and the wider school community to maintain and strengthen our child-safe culture.

We appreciate your ongoing support in making Our Lady Help of Christians a safe and welcoming place for every student.

Warm regards,
