Japanese News

Konnichiwa – Hello

In Japanese this term, Foundation students are being taught by Mrs Emery. They will be introduced to some language and culture.

Students in 1/2 are learning about Pets. Each term I choose grade 2 students who show our school values to be Japanese Leaders in the classroom.

Congratulations to the following students for being chosen as this term’s Japanese Leaders.

1/2M Theo, Mateja and Frankie

1/2L Billy, Mila and Scarlett

1/2G Hayley, Amelia and Wilga

1/2S Annie, Maisie and Neave

1/2E Dylan and Charlotte

The focus for the 3/4’s this term, is learning the 1st 20 characters of the hiragana alphabet. I have been impressed with the determination shown by the students when learning the hiragana alphabet. These are the 5 vowels. あ い う え お

The 5/6’s are learning about Japanese Food. One task is to design and write a Japanese menu using 3 different alphabets. Towards the end of term, the students will participate in a 3-way restaurant conversation.

Fun Fact: It is considered polite to slurp noodles loudly in Japan.
