Principal's Report
Year 5 and 6 Dance Program
Penberthy Hall was abuzz with music and dance on Wednesday this week. The dance program is so much fun and I look forward to seeing our students (and staff) bust some moves over the coming weeks!
Swimming
Our Years 1 to 4 students had a fantastic time at swimming lessons yesterday. Students were very excited to participate in this important safety and physical education program.
Road Safety
As we are early in the school year and have lots of new and younger students at the school, I ask for your continued support to help ensure student safety. I know this is a priority for all of us.
Drop off and pick up times, with many cars around and students walking, can be a high-risk time for student injury. This is particularly the case for younger students who are still developing their road safety skills, but as we know older students and adults can also be distracted when around traffic.
There are a few things we can do to help keep students safe, particularly at these times:
· Be aware of and adhere to the 40km/hour zones
· Support and remind your child to use the designated school crossings on Lydiard and Walker St when in these streets
· Support your children as necessary to cross at designated crossings
· Park in designated car parks
· Do not park in no-parking or emergency parking zones and keep school crossings clear
· If there is no crossing (Landsborough St and Ligar St), cross the road with them, so they are safely on the footpath on the school side
· Be aware of your surroundings when reversing, as often students cannot be seen in blind spots or not be seen clearly with reversing cameras and sensors
Thanks for your support in helping to keep all our students safe.
School Council Nominations
This year we have seven parent members of school council coming to the end of their two-year term. We have 7 (seven) vacancies in the parent member category for school council. Current members can re-nominate.
Nominations close at 4.00pm on Tuesday 25th February and nomination forms are available at the school office. If I receive more nominations than vacancies, a ballot will be conducted.
Joining our school council is a great way to support the school and I encourage interested parents/carers to consider nominating.
If you would like to discuss the nomination process or the role of school council, please contact me.

Anthony Tait
