Student News

Whole School Gym and Swimming
We are well underway with our Gym and Swimming program! It has been wonderful to see the students excited every Friday morning, ready to jump onto the bus and head into Bendigo for our massive day. With 4 weeks left of our program, it is important to remember that all student's items are named so that if we lose any, it is easy to identify who they belong to.
Sandhurst Swimming Carnival
On Wednesday, four of our senior students participated in the Catholic Swimming Sports at the Bendigo East Swimming Pool. They competed against students from other Catholic schools across the Bendigo region. Congratulations to Olivia, Jordy, Jenson, and Kiarah.
Religion
The senior students are learning about the origins of some of the traditional prayers we share. Did you know that the Our Father comes from the Bible? Some of our traditional prayers have also been adjusted to include language more relevant to our times and cultures today, to make them easier for us to understand and relate to.
SCIENCE IN THE CLASSROOM
This week, our Foundation to Year 2 students embarked on an exciting exploration of materials by investigating their properties and the transformations that occur when different materials are mixed. They observed both similarities and differences in mixtures and created their very own play dough.
Meanwhile, our Years 3-6 classes tackled the science of viscosity. The students made predictions about which liquids would offer the greatest friction and then put their hypotheses to the test. Tasting samples and recording their observations in their science journals, they connected theoretical learning with real-world experience.
Our budding scientists are deepening their understanding each week and enjoying the units, as is their teacher!
