Exciting Lunchtime Clubs this Term!
Teachers and education support staff will be overseeing a fantastic range of fun, free, and engaging clubs throughout the school at lunchtimes this term. Many children are eager to explore creative activities, and these clubs provide the perfect opportunity to socialise and learn something new outside of the playground. Not only do these activities allow students to develop new skills, but they also offer a chance to build connections with others, fostering friendships beyond their usual circles.
At the moment, the following clubs are available:
- Library: Open daily for quiet reading.
- Construction Club (Lego): Available daily in the junior foyer.
- Chinese Mandarin Club (with Bu Sia): Thursdays, first half of lunch in 1D.
- Mindfulness Club (with Miss G): Tuesdays, first half of lunch in 2E.
- Coding Club (with Miss Rose): Mondays for Years 5/6 and Wednesdays for Years 3/4 in the Science room.
- Games Club (with Mr Silverwood): Fridays, first half of lunch in the senior foyer.
We are also excited to announce more clubs coming soon, including Gardening Club and Art Club!
These clubs are a wonderful opportunity for students to explore new interests, learn, and make lasting friendships.
This term we have started the friendship program URSTRONG across the school.
The skills-based program teaches children how to put a voice to their feelings, create healthy friendships, and build a solid foundation for future relationships. Along with learning what’s normal in a friendship and the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships, students also learn and practice URSTRONG’s step-by-step approach for putting out common Friendship Fires (i.e. conflict) and how to combat Mean-on-Purpose behaviour like a ninja.
Explicitly teaching children how to develop healthy friendships and manage conflict in a positive way is at the heart of helping them flourish. We are excited to continue to use URSTRONG’s unique, kid-friendly language to teach friendship skills and conflict management.
