Prep D News
Each new term brings a buzz of excitement to Prep D with the introduction of new Discovery zones in the Prep classrooms. These zones help us to consolidate and extend learning across the curriculum, as well as to explore topics of interest and real world scenarios. Moreover, we learn to apply a growth mindset, be persistent and collaborate with our peers.
In Inquiry we will be designing and choosing materials to create a range of puppet types. So, to complement this, we have a puppet-creation Discovery zone filled with fabulous materials to use, challenging our creativity and our fine motor skills as we bring our ideas to life. We will use our puppets to engage in storytelling and present puppet shows in our very own Prep Puppet Theatre. Our Flower Shop Combi Van will deliver the freshest blooms to eager customers. We will drive to ideal selling locations and select from our vast range of flowers to create beautiful bunches, wrapping and presenting them with a smile. To date all customers have been delighted with the value for money, but if complaints arise we will work on our problem-solving and negotiation skills! Our young artists will be engaged in creating still life representations of the flowers as well as using varied techniques to make delightful wrapping paper.
Whilst there is so much to happily explore, we all know to beware of venturing up the ladder to our classroom loft, as we may just encounter a hungry Tyrannosaurus Rex! There is a small Jurassic World to investigate filled with species long-gone, where we hope to discover all about these magnificent creatures and apply critical thinking as we research what happened to them. Our Paleontologists may just unearth a few fossils! The best thing about Discovery is that we never quite know where our ideas will take us!

Book Week 2025 is nearly here!
On Tuesday 19th August at 9:00 am we will celebrate Book Week by coming to school
dressed up as a character from our favourite books!
The theme for this year is ... 'Book an Adventure'.
This year also marks the 80th anniversary of children's book week. There are lots of great ideas online for outfits that don’t cost anything and are easy to create.
Please let your teacher or me know if you'd like some ideas.
We can't wait to celebrate our love for reading and our love of characters.
