Out and About at Edgeworth

A Wonderful Fortnight of Celebration and Achievement

As we wrap up Week 3, it’s been a vibrant and energising fortnight across our school community. We’ve enjoyed celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten, proudly acknowledged student leaders during our SRC Badge Ceremony, and had loads of fun with Silly Sock and Crazy Hair Day, all while keeping learning at the heart of everything we do.

Our students have showcased their skills in debating rounds and at the Zone Athletics Carnival, representing our school with pride and enthusiasm.

We were also thrilled to continue Eager for Edgy as part of our Kindergarten Transition Program, welcoming some of our future learners and families into our school community.

A big thank you to our P&C, who organised the Silly Sock and Crazy Hair Day as a fundraising event for new playground equipment. Your ongoing support makes a real difference for our students.

We've received some questions regarding student toilets, and I’d like to clarify a few points. No toilets have been closed recently. In fact, the Senior Toilets near the GA shed, which have been out of use for several years, were cleaned and refurbished over the school holidays in preparation for use by our Year 5 and Year 6 students this term during recess and lunch. However, as there is no staff supervision near this area during learning time, these toilets will remain locked during learning time and reopened at recess and lunch with supervision. Year 5 and Year 6 students are still able to access the Primary Toilets near the Stage 2 COLA, which are closer to their classrooms and within supervised areas.

Thank you to all our families for your encouragement and involvement, it’s been a fantastic start to the term!

Student Safety in the Carpark

We have received feedback from both parents and teachers through our Work Health & Safety (WHS) team concerning cars parking in our school car park without a disabled parking permit. Additionally, there have been instances where students who require assistance have not been picked up safely, leading to some unsafe practices in the car park area.

To ensure there is adequate parking available for students with disabilities, and to maintain safe procedures for everyone, we will be introducing a parking permit system starting Monday, 18 August (Week 5).

The families of students who are already known to require a permit will be contacted individually by one of our dedicated office staff to organise the parking permit. If you believe we are not yet aware of your circumstances and require a permit, please contact the school office as soon as possible.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our school community safe.

Top Blokes Program - Stage 3

This term, a group of Stage 3 boys are participating in the Top Blokes Program, an evidence-based initiative designed to support young men in building confidence, resilience, and respectful relationships. Delivered by trained mentors, the program covers topics such as emotional regulation, peer influence, leadership, and positive friendships.

We are proud to offer this program in partnership with the Edgeworth NeighbourhoodCentre, made possible through a generous community grant. The sessions provide a safe and supportive space for boys to reflect, grow, and develop into positive role models within our school and broader community.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Last Thursday, we proudly held our Student Representative Council (SRC)  Badge Ceremony, officially welcoming our elected student leaders for 2025. These students, chosen by their peers, represent their classmates with pride and take on the important responsibility of being a voice for the student body.

The SRC plays a key role in promoting student voice, leadership, and initiative across the school. From leading events and fundraising efforts to supporting wellbeing programs, our SRC members help shape a positive and inclusive school culture.

SRC members will meet regularly as a group to share ideas, plan initiatives, and collaborate on ways to make our school an even better place to learn and grow. We look forward to seeing their leadership in action throughout the year.
