SWPBS Matrix review

At BNPS we understand the power of positive education.  A key element of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework is our matrix of expected behaviours.  This document is co-constructed by staff and students, and outlines the specific pro-social and pro-learning behaviours that align with our values.  Staff explicitly teach these behaviours and acknowledge when students demonstrate them.  They also form the basis for individual, class and whole school goals.  For example, our current whole school goal is to practice building a kindness culture (we're currently on 429 - only 71 more to get to our goal of 500...).

See below for a copy of our 2025 SWPBS matrix:

In Term 4 each year, every class reviews the matrix.  Students work to identify the behaviours that are important to remain on the matrix, whilst also suggesting changes and additions that would help build our school values. The SWPBS team then takes this data and reviews the matrix, ready for the new school year. In this way the students develop ownership of how we live our values, and the matrix becomes a living document that reflects the expectations of staff and students in the school.

I encourage you to ask your child about the matrix and the behaviours they believe reflect our values.

Grade 5/6 camp

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making our Grade 5/6 camp such a success. Our campers have arrived home safe and sound, having enjoyed the last three days in Portsea.

To our staff members who gave their time and energy to supervise and support our students throughout the camp - your commitment was truly appreciated. Thank you to our community volunteers who generously gave their time to help make this camp possible. Your involvement strengthens the connection between our school and community.

And finally, to our Grade 5/6 students - thank you for your enthusiasm and behaviour. You represented our school well and made the most of every opportunity to learn and build friendships. Camp is always a highlight of the primary school year, and this year was no exception.

Concert - Save The Date

One of our major community events for the year is almost here - on the 26th of November join us for our BNPS Music Festa Concert and Picnic.

Each class will be performing as a band, come and watch the performance, from 5.30pm until 8.00pm. Bring along a picnic to enjoy on our oval starting from 5.00pm.

Classes will be dressing up for the event, with more information to be provided shortly. See you there!
