Sports Day Reflection

On Friday, the 7th of November sports day took place, a day full of fun and excitement. All students across the school took part in this yearly event. Students wore their designated house colour. And at 12:00pm the sports day spirit truly began. The house Captains made a brief speech explaining the activities which were:

 

  • shotput / bean bag throwing - A game of skill where you have to throw the bean bag into the hoop.
  • Sprints - A race where reaction is key.
  • Relay - A team game where students have to cooperate to try not drop the baton
  • And Hurdles - A race where you have to jump over Hurdles to try to finish the race.

After all activities were completed the last event of the day was the CAPTAINS RACE! An exhilarating and lively event where everyone came together to watch the house captains, teachers and specially selected peers, race in a relay. It was a tense race. But in the end Red House came out victorious with a glorious lead, shortly after Blue and Gold came battling out for second place but Blue came Second and Gold came Third and right on Gold’s tail was Green who finished fourth.

 

Finally, it was time for presentations. Suspense filled the air. It was on! Everyone was dying to know who won. Would it be Gold again? Would it be Blue? Would it be Red? Perhaps Green? The scores resulted in the following; 

 

3518 points awarded to Blue, finishing fourth.

3600 points- Gold, finishing third. 

3714 points - Green, finishing second. 

Then the whole of Red exploded. And finally with 3818 points it was Red. finishing in FIRST place.

From our previous 7 years of primary school Red house has never won before. To see everyone coming together and cheering on their peers was really special. We cannot express our gratitude enough to everyone who put in hard work and gave us hope. We also really appreciate all the other houses for being good sports and being encouraging by cheering us on. Everybody has been really supportive through this journey. Thank you.
