Child Safe Standards

Standard 7: Processes for complaints and concerns are child-focused
At Good Shepherd, your child’s safety and wellbeing are our highest priorities. Under Victoria’s Child Safety Standard 7, we have clear, accessible, and culturally safe ways for parents and children to raise concerns or complaints. We encourage you to speak up if you ever have a worry about your child or another child’s safety, no matter how small it may seem. All concerns are taken seriously, handled confidentially, and responded to promptly and fairly. If a child is at risk, we act immediately and report to the appropriate authorities when required. If you’re ever unsure how to raise a concern, please speak with your child’s teacher.

Standard 8: Staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training
Child Safe Standard 8 requires all staff and volunteers to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and awareness needed to keep children safe, and this is supported through ongoing training and education. This means all Good Shepherd staff must be able to recognise the signs of potential harm, respond appropriately and sensitively to child safety concerns or disclosures, and know what actions to take in line with our school’s policies and legal obligations.
