Principal's Report
DINA FIECK
We are now a thriving learning community. Our Early Childhood Classes fill quickly, often twelve months in advance—and most Primary Classes have only two or three places available at any given time. I mention this because the Alice Springs Steiner School is a stand-alone independent school; our enrolments directly determine our income and therefore our capacity to employ and support staff. Reaching this position of stability and growth has come through a rigorous curriculum grounded in the National Steiner Curriculum Framework and a steadfast commitment to strengthening and supporting our teachers.
Our teachers are exceptional. They consistently go the extra mile for their students, planning and leading camps, preparing rich and engaging lessons, and offering care and guidance every day. All staff work with dedication to support each child’s education, and it has been my privilege over the last 6 years to support them in this important work.
Another vital aspect of our success is our students. They bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and love to their teachers each day. And behind them stand parents and carers, who actively partner with the school. Parents know their children best, and this shared understanding allows teachers to respond more deeply and effectively to each individual child.
The health of a school is built on every member of the learning community, teachers, parents, staff, and students—working together. It is this collective effort that strengthens the education of every individual child and sustains the vibrancy of our school.
