Science & Maths Spotlight – Balloon Car Investigation
Massive shout out to Niamh and Tenny, who last Saturday in their own time collaborated to design the fair plant stall poster and letter for requesting a donation.

Yesterday, Niamh and Edie P personally went to local Nurseries to drop off a hand written donation request. Both girls showed a great degree of confidence engaging with the staff and I’m sure leaving a good impression of IPS students.
Their fantastic efforts reaped rewards with the following response from Bulleen Art and Garden who sent them a $50 voucher to buy plants and garden supplies for the Plant Stall at the school fair.

This week, students explored Newton’s Laws of Motion through a hands-on STEM challenge. Working in teams, they designed and built balloon-powered cars, then tested how changing the car’s mass affected its speed and distance.
Skills developed:
Collaboration – working in groups to solve problems creatively.
Ask your child:“What happened when you added more weight to your car?”“Which law explains why the car moved when the balloon deflated?”
