ART REPORT

In Art this term, all classes have been learning about the diverse range of artwork of Australian Aboriginal artists.
Foundation
Our Foundation students have worked on two pieces of art related to the Aboriginal dreamtime story, ‘The Rainbow Serpent’. They created a colourful rainbow serpent collage and a 2-dimensional sculpture using papier mache and wire.
Year 1/2
Our 1/2 artists explored the artwork of Caroline Numina who makes art based on traditional Bush Medicine. The students learnt about how some plants have healing properties. They created a paper collage arranging paper leaves they made into decorative patterns.
Year 3/4
Our Year 3/4 students learnt all about Bunjil and his significance to the Kulin nation of which we are a part. They created a colourful aerial landscape of Wadawarrung country and then layered a black and white monochromatic Bunjil on the landscape.
Year 5/6
Our Year 5/6 students have been learning about the paintings of Aboriginal artist Yaritji Tingila Young who tells stories of family and Country through her artwork. They have begun their own painting inspired by her work based on their own family connections.
