Senior Report
Literacy
In Literacy this week we have continued to read Charlotte's Web - we have a few chapters to go and then we will be watching the movie! We are all looking forward to a movie as a little reward for all of our hard work! Our stories are coming along as we have just finished introducing our problems and are now up to learning about an emotional response... how will our characters react? Finally, as the term comes to an end, the students have been completing an array of literary assessments so I can continue to write their reports.
Maths
For Maths we have learnt about probability. What are the chances? We have learnt about two types of chance, mutually exclusive is when two events cannot happen at the same time - for example, when it is raining it is impossible for the ground to be dry. It can only be one or the other. Consequential chance is when an event happens in response to an event. For example - I have organised to go on a picnic along the river but I cannot go anymore because there is a thunderstorm. A highlight in Maths for the week, was on Wednesday when we had a coin flipping competition. In partners, you had to create a fake run sheet of 20 flips and then flip a coin 20 times and record. One of your run sheets was fake, and one was real. Then your partner had to guess which sheet was real. Students had to look for patterns and use their understanding of chance. The best part? Lollies were up for grabs, so motivation was almost certain!
What are the chances Maths could be this fun? Pretty certain, actually!
We hope you have a fabulous week and we see you at next weeks assembly!
