Principal Report
Mr. Lehane
As the year draws to a close, we are already busy preparing for an exciting 2026! Over the past couple of weeks, we have welcomed our incoming Foundation students during their transition sessions. We are thrilled to share that our projected enrolment for next year is 16 students, a wonderful number for our small school community.
Our class structure will remain the same in 2026. Foundation to Year 2 students will continue in the Junior Class with Miss Deane, while the Year 3 to Year 6 students will be in the Senior Class. We are currently finalising the timetable, but at this stage the Senior Class will have three days taught by Mrs Punton and two days taught by Mr Lehane.
These arrangements may be adjusted slightly as planning is completed.
Next Thursday 20th November we will have our final student free day of the year.
Under the current Victorian Government Schools Agreement (EBA), teachers are entitled to one Professional Practice Day each year. This is a pupil-free day that allows teachers to focus on planning, assessment, and professional learning so they can continue to provide high-quality teaching and learning programs. We appreciate your support in making this important day possible.
Today we were delighted to welcome Raywood Primary School for a day filled with fun activities and learning. Students were grouped by age and rotated through three hands-on sessions.
Activity 1: STEM Challenge - Students took on the task of building the tallest possible tower using only marshmallows and toothpicks. They explored how different shapes create stronger structures and discovered which designs made the most stable bases.
Activity 2: Art - In this colourful session, students used streamers and paper plates to create their very own rainbows, experimenting with colour and design as they worked.
Activity 3: Downball - This high-energy activity was run by Downball Australia, who travelled up from Melbourne to work with our students. Everyone learnt new rules and skills to help them enjoy the game both at school and at home—and every student was excited to take a Downball home at the end!
To finish the day, we all shared a BBQ lunch, a Zooper Dooper, and a final play together before Raywood headed back to their school. It was a fantastic day of connection, creativity, and fun.
We have now held our first two transition sessions, and it has been wonderful to see how excited our 2026 Foundation students are to join our school community. During these visits, the children have spent time getting to know the staff and becoming familiar with the school environment.
Please note that there will be no transition session next Thursday, 20 November, as the school has a pupil-free day.
We look forward to welcoming our Foundation students back on Thursday, 27 November, when their visit will extend to a longer session from 9:00am to 11:45am.
