The Hill Art and Technology Exhibition
A Celebration of Creativity, Connection, and Community

Wheelers Hill Secondary College came alive this week with colour, sound, and creativity at the 2025 Hill Art and Technology Exhibition Opening. The event brought together students, families, staff, and alumni in a joyous celebration of imagination, innovation, and collaboration across The Arts and Technologies.
Before the official proceedings began, the audience was treated to an uplifting musical performance by the College Stage Band and Choir, led by Mr Tim Rex and Ms Annie Stone. Their vibrant performances filled the space with energy and warmth, setting a celebratory tone and showcasing the remarkable talent within our Music Department.

The evening opened with a heartfelt welcome from The Arts Learning Area Leader, Mr Khairi Razaai, who spoke about how art is a reflection of real life — a process that mirrors the challenges and triumphs of learning, growing, and connecting. “Through the creative process,” he shared, “our students develop resilience, problem-solving, and the ability to see beauty and meaning in the world around them.” His words set the tone for an evening that truly embodied the College’s values of Respect, Excellence, and Creativity.

Guests were inspired by a special address from alumnus Nicole Onslow, whose creative journey since graduating continues to motivate and empower young artists. Nicole reflected on the importance of courage, persistence, and following one’s passion — reminding students that creativity is not just a skill but a lifelong way of thinking and being.

Principal Ms Fern Brisbane also spoke warmly about the vital role of the arts in education, highlighting how creative subjects nurture empathy, critical thinking, and community spirit. She congratulated both students and staff on the extraordinary standard of work displayed across Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Music, and Technology.

Adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the evening were the Student Executive Leaders, Aiden Carmichael (Respect) and Lara Williams (Excellence), who shared their reflections on how the arts bring people together. Their speeches captured the pride and camaraderie that define the Wheelers Hill community — a place where creativity is shared, celebrated, and supported.
Throughout the night, visitors explored an inspiring collection of student works showcasing imagination, technical skill, and innovation. From expressive paintings and intricate sculptures to inventive design projects and digital artworks, every piece told a story of growth, curiosity, and collaboration.

A sincere thank you goes to The Arts and Technologies staff, whose dedication, organisation, and mentorship made the exhibition a resounding success. Their tireless efforts continue to foster an environment where every student feels empowered to take creative risks and express their individuality.
The Hill Art and Technology Exhibition stands as a proud reminder that at Wheelers Hill Secondary College, creativity thrives — not just in the artworks we see, but in the strong, connected community we continue to build together.
