What Did You Do At School?

Prep

We have had a wonderful few weeks in Prep, filled with creativity, confidence, and excitement! We have been practising for our Nativity performance, and there’s a real buzz in the air. We are learning our roles beautifully and singing with our best voices at each rehearsal. It’s such a joy to feel our enthusiasm grow as we prepare to share this special story with the school and our families in just a few weeks. In Literacy, we’ve been publishing our colour poems for our upcoming picnic celebration. We worked hard to uplevel our writing by adding excellent adjectives to make our poems vivid and descriptive, and we can’t wait to read them aloud! In Integrated Studies, our creativity has continued as we work together in small groups to design and build puppet theatres and create puppets that match familiar fairytales. Our teamwork, imagination, and problem-solving skills have really shone. It’s been a joyful and productive time in Prep as we look forward to celebrating our learning and performances at the end of the year!

Year 1

Year 1 Get Twisted with Science!

What a whirlwind of fun and learning! Our Year 1 students recently combined their studies of Science and Weather at the Enviro Barn with an exciting excursion to Twisted Science.

Students were bursting with curiosity as they explored hands-on exhibits that brought scientific concepts to life. One of the day’s highlights was learning how to make a tornado in a jar, a mesmerising experiment that had everyone watching in awe as mini twisters spun to life before their eyes!

During the focused science lesson, students delved deeper into the science of weather, discovering how wind, rain, and storms form. The day was filled with wonder, laughter, and plenty of “Wow!” moments.

After such an action-packed day, the bus ride home was filled with chatter and giggles as students compared their favourite experiments and discoveries. The teachers and parent helpers also had a fantastic time, especially during the interactive challenges where a bit of friendly competition added to the fun!

It was truly a day to remember, celebrating curiosity, creativity, and the joy of learning that God has placed in each of us.

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

Psalm 111:2

Year 2

In Year 2, we have been busy completing our assessments and working hard to show our teachers all that we have learnt this year. In Integrated Studies, we have begun designing our own robots and are very excited to start building. In Christian Studies, we have been learning about Isaac and Rebekah, and we discussed how we can serve others just as Rebekah showed kindness by offering water to the servant and his camels. We have also started publishing our poems in preparation for the Poetry Celebration and we are looking forward to sharing them with our families soon!

Year 3

Year 3 have been experimenting with visuals to engage their audience. In preparation for our Poetry Celebration on Thursday 20 November, we have learnt how different fonts, colours, images, and uses of space can make our ideas shine. We are so excited to share the emotive poems we have drafted, uplevelled, and published!

For Integrated Studies, we have explored different materials and joining techniques to create vivid sets, characters, and props. These elements will be used to produce a stop motion video, which we will film, edit, and share over the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more information about an invitation to our Year 3 Film Festival, where you’ll be able to view our final videos!

Year 4

Lights, Camera, Clay-mation!

We’ve been hard at work bringing our imaginations to life for the upcoming Stop Motion Film Festival! Armed with clay, popsicle sticks, paper, pipe cleaners, and pom poms, we’re building vibrant sets, crafting unique characters, and designing props that pop. Next, we’ll dive into filming and editing our very own short films. We can’t wait to premiere our creations and share the artistry with our peers and families at the end of term!

Year 5

Year 5 have been thriving in Term 4! In Integrated Studies, we’ve been working with our buddies to design and create products based on real market research: testing ideas, gathering feedback, and preparing for our very own mini marketplace. In English, we’ve been polishing our writing skills to help us convey ideas with confidence and creativity. Maths lessons have challenged us to gather data and create clear and informative data visualisations.

Year 6

Crash! The sound of cymbals echoed across the vast auditorium as various instruments played in sync, entrancing the audience. That was the energy of the Year 6 Instrumental Concert. Yet this magnificent sound didn’t come from nowhere. The entire Year 6 student group have been practising every Friday afternoon as part of the Years 5-7 Instrumental Program. The instruments that we have been learning are different woodwind and brass instruments, as well as percussion. The students have worked very hard to excel in their individual and band performances. Students start learning how to play their instruments in Year 5, and work their way through to Year 7, improving every day. Over the past few years, we have had a few new instruments, such as the euphonium and the French horn. These students have worked very hard over the past year.
