Respectful Relationships Program

This term, we welcomed Farima Azad from the Australian Muslim Women’s Centre for Human Rights (AMWCHR). Farima is facilitating a small group program for Year 10 and 11 Muslim girls, focused on providing support and connection within the school setting. The initiative aims to provide a safe and inclusive space where participants can connect, share experiences, and access tailored resources that promote wellbeing and personal growth. Through this program, we hope to strengthen our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and meaningful support for all students.

Year 7 Men’s Talk

During term four, a select group of year 7 students will participate in the Men's Talk program. Men’s Talk is a supportive, interactive group program that addresses important topics such as mental health, emotional resilience, and the power of seeking help. Designed to break down stigmas around asking for support, this program creates a safe and open environment where young males can share experiences, learn coping strategies, and gain tools to manage stress and emotional challenges.

With engaging activities, honest discussions, and guided reflections, Men's Talk encourages participants to recognise the importance of mental health, build self-awareness, and understand that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Year 8 RAISE Mentoring Program

Year 8 The Year 8 Mentoring Program continues to progress exceptionally well, with strong engagement and meaningful connections being formed between students and their mentors. The program, delivered through Raise, provides students with a valuable opportunity to build resilience, develop help-seeking skills, strengthen their sense of belonging, and foster hope for the future. Each session is facilitated by a qualified Raise Program Counsellor who ensures a safe, supportive, and structured environment for participants.

One of the key strengths of the program is the opportunity for students to connect with a neutral, positive adult role model, someone outside their immediate school or family networks who offers guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear. These mentoring relationships have been shown to make a lasting difference in young people’s confidence and wellbeing. We look forward to seeing the continued growth and positive outcomes as the program draws to a close at the end of the term.

Year 8 Chilled Program

It has been great to see the progression of the Year 8 Chilled Program. The Chilled Program is an evidence-based program developed by Macquarie University that aims to address anxiety in young people. It includes the following skills:

  • learning about feelings and anxiety
  • learning to think realistically (detective thinking/cognitive restructuring)
  • fighting fear by facing fear (exposure activities)
  • learning coping skills such as building confidence, relaxation or problem solving

Resources will also be provided to parents/carers to support them with parenting an anxious child.
