Year 12 – The Final Weeks

In Term 1 I met with the Year 12 students to talk about the importance of goal setting, understanding themselves as independent learners and the value of feedback and self-reflection. I also highlighted that Year 12 is a ‘three term game’ and before we know it, their final weeks of school would be upon us!

The culmination of years of hard work and dedication is upon our Year 12 students as they approach their final exams. They have journeyed through years of challenges and triumphs, and now the time has come for them to showcase the incredible knowledge and resilience they have cultivated. During their time at Shelford, our Year 12 cohort have been nurtured and ably supported by their many teachers. Shelford is a community of learners, where both students and teachers learn side by side, students are seen for the individuals they are, and growth is celebrated by all.

During this time our Year 12s often feel a mix of emotions – excitement, anticipation, and perhaps a touch of nervous energy. It's important that they acknowledge these feelings and transform them into the fuel that propels them forward. Our students are encouraged to maintain a balancing act in the upcoming weeks as they complete their final revision program. It is important that they take breaks when needed, get ample rest, and nourish both their body and mind. A well-rested and focused mind is a most powerful tool during exams.

Leading into their exams our Year 12s will continue to be supported by their teachers; whether this be clarification on specific topics, additional guidance on exam preparation, or simply discussing any concerns they may have.

As they embark on the final leg of their secondary education journey, we remind them that they are not defined by a set of exams. They are defined by their character, their resilience, and their passion for learning. We wish all our Year 12 students the very best as they approach their final exams and remind them that as a community we believe in their capabilities and look forward to celebrating their achievements at the culmination of their exam period.
