STEM X Sustainability Committee

Harper Hopkins and Maya Wright ran a Beeswax Wrap Workshop in collaboration with Mr Haebich (Sustainability Coordinator) on Monday August 28.

We are very pleased to report that 30 students  applied to take part in the workshop, and it was a very successful event.

In addition, our lids4kids campaign will soon be launched.

Events Committee

The Events Committee, headed by Hendrix Gauci, is pleased to advise that they are making great progress.

Twilight Market

  • At this stage, we envision approximately 70 stalls to be participating  at market, with a wide range of goods to be on sale. From candles to puzzles, jewellery to artwork - there will be something for everyone. Not all vendors have responded with firm registrations as yet.
  • Generous families rallied to the call and have donated toward the SRC's planned Second-hand Books and Clothing stalls - and this is greatly appreciated. These families have provided stock for recycle and re-use at the stalls, and have taken the time to clean, sort and package their donations as well as to personally bring them into the school for us. We do not need further donations, as we have plenty to go on with, and the committee is now on to the job of organising goods for sale. Second-hand items will be most reasonably priced, and we hope that the community enjoys the opportunity to grab a bargain at Twilight Market!

SRC Super Summit

The BSC SRC were invited to the University High SRC Super Summit!

Noah, Anushka, Ella, Harper, Aleks, Hendrix, Lachy and Oscar represented BSC at the summit escorted by Mr Hall and SRC Coordinator, Ms King, on Friday September 8. They enjoyed connecting and sharing ideas and inspiration with other students from a number of schools.

Year 10

The Summit was a really enlightening experience, it was great to talk to members of other Student Councils in the area and compare the strengths and areas for improvement of our schools.

Along with meeting a lot of new people with similar interests to us, we also discussed some key areas for our school to develop in the areas of community and inclusivity, health and consent education and awareness, [as well as] sustainability within a school environment.

The focus group I was in highlighted the importance of community in regards to improving cultural awareness, deterring racism and limiting tokenism in curricular and non curricular matters, and we brainstormed some actionable ways to promote this within our school.

Ultimately, the Summit was a great event to foster relationships between our schools and come up with ways to develop our community, environment and learning.
