Author Study

Graeme Base’s books certainly brought enthusiasm to our Author Study that took place last week. Students loved the hidden messages and the brilliant illustrations that captured interest and prompted thought-provoking responses. They were given the opportunity to delve into the life of Graeme Base and learn more about the themes in his books, the characters, and his writing style. Students certainly enjoyed the experience and have shown growth in reading, writing, and research skills developed through our Author Studies

Public Speaking

We have had numerous students in classes 3-6 express interest in the Lions Club Public Speaking competition. These students have all received information that was sent home at the end of Term 3. During the holidays, students have worked on their speeches and, had the opportunity last week to share, discuss, and raise any questions.

Due to the number of students wishing to participate, we will be holding a school competition to decide the students going forward to the next level. We will set a date for this in Week 4. If you have any questions please email Mrs. Anderson anastasia.anderson@education.vic.gov.au

Student Excellence Program

During Term 4 we have had several students selected for the Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP). This program is organised and delivered by the staff at Virtual Schools Victoria (VSV) for students who have been identified as excelling in the areas of English and Maths. These students join with other students from across the state to participate in weekly virtual learning sessions that help extend their thinking and teach new and complex skills.

We wish our participating students all the best for the term of extension learning ahead.

Congratulations to the following students who are participating throughout Term 4 in the English program:

  • Scarlett B
  • Fraser D
  • Eve G
  • Jeremy H
  • Ella J
  • Edith L
  • Mazie P

Swimming

The swimming program is coming up this term for all year levels. Please see the dates below for each year level’s scheduled swimming program.  This event will appear in Compass soon with all the details and will require parent consent.

The cost of swimming this year will be approximately $20, which covers the cost of the bus travel. The actual swimming and water safety lesson costs are covered by funding received from DET.

Please speak to your child’s classroom teacher should you have any queries regarding swimming.
