CF2023 - Cultural Captain Wrap-Up

Chiara Pezzetta

Cultural Festival is a much anticipated day in the school calendar, with the Battle of the House dances, food trucks, a wide range of activities and the overall energy of the day. As much as it is a celebration for the Feast Day of Saint Francis, it is a celebration of our Mount Alvernia community.

Cultural Festival 2023 was an incredible opportunity for students to celebrate the culture of music and dance through the theme Friday Night Fever. The theme ignited a fever inside students to dance, sing and explode their energy from within. This was showcased at the beginning of the concert during the Flash mob. Students felt the fever inside them to get up and dance, joining the students who initiated the Flash mob. It was an incredible way to instigate the energy for the rest of the concert. The energy of the students was further showcased during the House Dances. Each house has worked incredibly hard over the past term, and it showed today. Each house brought amazing energy, enthusiasm, music and choreography to the stage.

Throughout the day, students had an opportunity to participate in a range of activities. Students could either do Just Dance, play sporting games on the oval, take photos at the photobooth, take part in the Cake Decorating and Costume Parade, watch a movie, face painting and so much more. These activities were all full throughout the day as students enjoyed the festivities. We had amazing entertainment from the FCIP Rock Band who performed in the Village Green.

Another highlight of the day is the amazing food provided by food trucks and La Cucina. This year we had a great variety of food trucks from hot chips, slushies, ice cream, bubble tea, burgers, doughnuts and more. La Cucina generously provided pizza, garlic bread and a sausage sizzle.

Overall, the day was filled with high energy and excitement from all students and staff.

Thank you to all the students for their participation and enthusiasm throughout the day. Thank you to supporting staff, Ms Curcuruto, Mr Rogusz, Mr Smith, Heads of House, House Captains, Cultural Committee and Sarah Bracey (2024 Cultural Captain) for all your support on the day. Finally, thank you to Ms Willoughby for her leadership and making this incredible day possible.
