ACTING PRINCIPAL REPORT

I feel saddened that many of our families in our school community are affected by the devastating events in the Middle East. My thoughts are with our students and families who have family and friends in Israel and Gaza. Please get in contact with me or any of the staff at our school if you would like to ensure we are aware of what your child is going through at this time. I ask that as a school community we support one another in this difficult time, and to talk to your child about how our others might be feeling and to demonstrate empathy and understanding.

As a school, we always want to strengthen our relationships with home and school, as we know the importance of success this has on our students journey and experience and Brighton Secondary College. I encourage parents/carers if you have any concerns or questions to please reach out to us, to ensure we keep open communication and work together so your child feels safe and happy when they arrive at school and leave at the end of the day. Over the last two weeks since returning from the school holidays I have been contacted by various parents, and I would like to thank parents for their honesty and trust that at Brighton Secondary College our students are our number one priority and are always at the centre of our focus.

This week we have reminisced about the six-year journey of our year 12 students. It has been lovely to see our year 12 students enjoy each day with various fun and entertaining activities! A highlight was to spend morning tea in our staffroom sharing stories and laughs with many of the students and teachers. We are so proud of this cohort, and it feels like only yesterday they walked through the school gates as year sevens when their school uniform looked a little too big for them, and their bags full of every single text book possible! I feel very privileged to not only be part of our Valedictory dinner tonight to enjoy the celebrations with our Year 12 students and their families ( who have worked so hard to get them to where they are today), but to be able to shake their hand and to present each student their graduation certificate. I wish the BSC Class of 2023 the very best for their exams that begin on Monday, we are here to support them every step of the way. Good luck!

I wish everyone a safe and happy weekend.
