Leadership Report

Values

At Magill School, we strive, in collaboration with families, to assist our students as they grow throughout their time at our school. Our aim is for our students to develop a set of values which will support them as they grow within our school community, and beyond into adult life. Our current school values of Respect, Responsibility, Excellence and Honesty have been in place for a number of years, and reflected the student and parent community of the time, what their hopes were for their children. We regularly refer to these values in our day to day teaching practice, and recognise and reward students for demonstrating these values.

While these are still admirable values for us all to aspire to hold today, as a school, we feel that as we approach the middle of the 21st century, we have an opportunity to review these values, and take the opportunity to make changes. Thinking about the values I wanted for my own children to progress through life with, words such as; integrity, curiosity and resilience come to mind. While there are many wonderful values that contribute to a persons ability to communicate and contribute to the local and global community, we want to identify a few core values that as a school community we believe are transferable across many areas, and will contribute to a person's sense of worth as they grow.

As part of the review process, the Governing Council and Parent Engagement Committee invite you to complete the survey via the link below and select your Top 10 values. This survey will be open for 2 weeks to gather as many responses from families as we can. We will work through a similar process with our students and staff, collate results and then share our findings back with the school community.

We're excited to see your inputs the aspirational values you hope for your own children. We look forward to sharing our values review journey with you! You can complete the survey by clicking here Magill School Values Review 2024

This week, across the nation, volunteers are being celebrated and acknowledged for the role they play. At Magill School, we want to acknowledge and celebrate our volunteers who make the time to contribute to our school community. Whether it's a formal commitment such as Governing Council Chairperson, regular committee member, or through your participation on excursions, incursions, in-class volunteering, library book covering and much more - we thank you for every minute you give to our school and students. Our volunteers do not go unnoticed - and we truly appreciate everything that is done to make our school community the wonderful place it is to work and learn every day.

Yours sincerely,
