NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK 

 

YEAR 10 CAREERS EVENT 

On May 21st the year 10 students will be participating in a careers event during periods 1 and 2. They will have the opportunity to meet with 5 different mentors to learn about their field of work and their careers leading to this point in time. The list of mentors and their profession can be seen below: 

  • Nursing & Midwifery - Chat to Cindy and Corinne from Gippsland Southern Health about careers in Nursing & Midwifery.
  • Ambulance Victoria - Elle & Josh from Ambulance Victoria will chat about what it is like to be a paramedic and the pathways into the industry.
  • Allied Health - Sara, a dietician and health manager, will chat about her career and the different careers available in allied health.
  • Victoria Police - Chat to Meg and Nick from Victoria Police about a career in the police force.
  • AGA - Jaimie and Allison will chat about their own jobs and answer all of your questions about AGA, apprenticeships and VET.
  • Carpenter - Dan from MDC Building Group is a carpenter and can chat about the trade his career path.
  • Electrician - Bruce is a local electrician who can chat about his career as a sparkie.
  • Real Estate - Christie from Christie Nelson Real Estate, can answer all of your questions about a career in Real Estate.
  • Evans Petroleum - John is a sales manager will talk about what a sales manager does and the different roles in the petroleum industry.
  • South Gippsland Shire - Ben and his colleague will talk about their roles in the shire and the broad range of careers that the council offers.
  • Gippsland Veterinary - Belinda, a Senior Veterinarian, will talk about her career as a Vet.
  • GippsDairy - Veronica will talk about the range of careers in Agriculture (it's not just farming!)
  • Nutrien - Stuart from Nutrien will chat about how a career in Science and Agriculture can come together.
  • Saputo - Have you ever wondered about a career with Saputo? Paul can chat about his career as a Production Manager in UHT and other careers in the industry.

 

SENIOR SCHOOL TERTIARY INFORMATION SERVICE EXPO 

 On the 15th of May, our year 11 and 12 students visited Leongatha Secondary College to take part in a Tertiary Information Service session. Students listened to a presentation focusing on VTAC and transitioning to tertiary education after high school. They then had the opportunity to meet with tertiary representatives from a range of institutions in Victoria to gain further information.
