Senior School Update
Years 10 - 12
Laura Higgins
Hello, Senior School students and families!
We are grateful that the Western Port Word is back so that we have an opportunity to share with you all some of our student achievements, excursions, and opportunities and remind you of some of the important upcoming events coming up!
Our Year 10s have recently completed their work experience placements, receiving glowing feedback from various employers – Nat and Bec have loved making these phone calls and sharing this with the team. It’s so great seeing our students have practical exposure to the world out there and this has provided them with invaluable insights into potential career paths. Additionally, the Year 10 True Crime excursion was a resounding success!
Year 11 VM & VPC are currently benefiting from a super wide range of extra learning activities - they now have completed micro-credentials in First Aid, Financial Literacy, RSA, and Food Handling. We love seeing that our students are building such strong resumes before they have even finished school!
Year 12 students have been making excellent use of the Senior Commons area – we love seeing our students stay back for tutoring on a Monday or Thursday and work in small groups with their teachers on the other nights. It’s this kind of focus and dedication that has a huge impact on the outcomes of the upcoming exams! Our recent assembly was a highlight so far this term, featuring an outstanding performance by the senior band and over 40 awards presented to students for their achievements.
Now for a few reminders and actions
As we near the end of Units 1 & 3, subject assessments are being finalised. Please check your Compass for any ‘impending Ns’ – it’s your responsibility to check in with your teacher regarding what is required to obtain Satisfactory credit to contribute to your program.
Attendance has generally been good, but we urge students to check Compass to ensure they meet the requirements of the Senior School Assessment and Reporting Policy (90% attendance!)
Course Information Evening for Parents/Carers & Students in Years 9 and 10 who are moving into Years 10 and 11, 2025.
Your presence at this event is highly encouraged, and we look forward to your active participation as we work together to shape the future pathways of our students. Please scan the QR to RSVP!
Warm regards,
Senior School Team
