Mr Butts' Announcements

St Mary's takes out the GV Netball title!

Absences = lost learning.

When students are absent it doesn't only effect their learning but also has an impact on the other students in the class.  Many parents and carers don't realise this, but when a child returns to school or is late, the teacher must spend time with them individually to explain the previous learning they missed out on.  This takes away valuable teaching time from the rest of the class. I urge all parents and carers to ensure that if your child can be at school, that they are at school.

Reconciliation Week

Next week is Reconciliation Week and we have a number of events taking place.  On Monday,  staff and students will be attending the local Sorry Day ceremony in Shepparton. On Friday morning we are having a breakfast for our Aboriginal families, will be followed by a whole school reflection walk which all parents and carers are welcome to attend.

Mother's Day Mass

Our Mother's Day mass was a beautiful celebration and it was wonderful to see so many mums, grandmother's and special mother figures attend.  Thank you to Mrs Hicks for her meticulous planning and to everyone who played a role.

St Mary's Open Day

Our open day last week was a great success, with a record number of new families visiting the school. A big thank you to our Grade 6 tour guides for their fantastic job showing our visitors around St. Mary's.

Winter Sports

Our Gr 5/6 students took part in the GV Winter sports carnival last week competing in T-Ball, Soccer, football and netball. And our netballers, led by super coach Ms Carroll tasted the ultimate success winning the grand final.  We wish them good luck as they proceed to the division competition at Benalla.

ICAS Competition

St Mary's Gr 3-6 students are invited to take part in the following ICAS tests again this year:

English, Maths, Science,Digital Technology, Spelling Bee and Writing. Parents are required to pay to enter the competition. See attached letter for entry details.

New Friends!

Keep an eye out for two friendly kookaburras who are often sighted and heard at the front of the school! I shared the photograph's below at this week's assembly.  We are looking for names for them, so if any of the kids come up with something suitable, tell them to let me know!

Before School Supervision

Please note that  all students that arrive at school prior to 8:30am must fill out an application that is explained the letter below.  I appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation regarding this.

Mr Butts' Jokes!

Yesterday I went to the doctor to fix my blocked ear.  "Which ear is it?" she asked? "2024" I replied.

Q: What is the scariest tree?

A:  BamBOO!
