Sesquicentenary (150 years) of the Presentation Sisters arrival in Australia

Celebrating 150 years since the arrival of five Sisters from Ireland in Wagga Wagga in May, 1874 that led to the foundation of the Presentation Sisters is an important anniversary when reflecting on all that has been accomplished since then.

Mrs Moss and Mrs Woodhouse will be taking 12 students from Year 3, 4 and 5 to celebrate this sesquicentenary at Domremy College on Wednesday 12th June.

As we are a proud Nano Nagle school, we will also have a liturgy to mark this important milestone of the Charism of our school. More information will follow.

Family Educator News

Dear Parents & Carers,

Join us for Toddler Tales on Tuesday mornings from 9-10.15am in the Family Educator Room, in the library.

Toddler Tales offers interactive sessions of singing, dancing, praying, reading, creating, and playing for families in our school & parish with children aged 2-5. It's a fantastic opportunity for your little ones to interact and for parents to connect with others in the community. Preschoolers can also get a head start on familiarising themselves with a school environment before 2025.

Please remember to register before attending. By filling in the form, you'll be added to our email list for updates and special news about Toddler Tales (attendance is optional each week!).

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday, 30 July.

Nano’s Lanterns - Community Meal Service

St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, was originally founded by the Mercy Sister, 100 years ago. In 1950, the care of the school was entrusted to the Presentation Sisters, who continued their dedicated service until the establishment of Sydney Catholic Schools. Today we proudly uphold the charisms imparted by the Presentation Sisters, honouring their legacy and commitment to education and service within our school community.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of  the Presentation Sisters establishing an order in Australia. Inspired by the remarkable legacy of Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation Sisters, often referred to as the ‘Lady with the Lantern.’ I am very excited  to introduce a new meal service, "Nano’s Lanterns''.

Nano’s Lanterns is aimed at assisting members of our school community who are going through challenging times. Whether it's coping with the loss of a loved one, facing illness or injury, experiencing financial difficulties, or simply feeling overwhelmed by day to day demands, "Nano’s Lanterns" is here to provide support.

Our goal is not only to lend a helping hand during tough moments but also to celebrate joyous occasions such as the arrival of new babies, when families could use a helping hand. With our large school community, we have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of those around us.

We are seeking compassionate families who are willing to register and offer to prepare a home-cooked meal or snack whenever the need arises. When a meal request is received, we will reach out to volunteers on the list. All meals will be delivered to the school in disposable containers and foils so that the recipients don’t have to worry about returning dishes.

Anyone who has been at the receiving end of a home cooked meal when suffering difficult times knows that it’s not just about the food.  It’s about people thinking of you, stopping to say a prayer for you, and reaching out so that you know you are part of a loving, caring community who have taken the time and care to prepare a meal.  Having that one task completed for your family is also a relief and what some might consider a ‘Godsend’! Our faith is based on one of Jesus’ greatest commandments  “Love thy neighbour as yourself”  ( Matthew 22:39)  and this program will be a great model of this commandment to our children.

It is important to note that meal drop off & deliveries will take place exclusively on Tuesdays during term time and only when meals are needed, guaranteeing a structured and organised approach to our service. The people receiving and making the meal will be kept totally confidential.
