Cross Country

On Wednesday we had Ethan P, Chloe W, Emily B and Luca U compete at the MacKillop Cross Country Trial. This is a challenging course held at the Sydney Equestrian Centre. We are so proud to have 4 of our students from St Patrick's represent the Sydney Catholic Schools Team. Chloe finished in 11th place out of 50 12-13 year old girls.

Conference Athletics

Over the next couple of weeks Mrs Col will hand out notes to any student who has progressed to the Conference 3 Athletics trial held at Sydney Olympic Park on Monday 12th August (term 3). This note will have highlighted all the events your child has progressed for. There is no need to return any of this paperwork as permission will be sought via COMPASS for this event.

AFL Paul Kelly Cup

On Wednesday 5th June 2024 56 students across Stage 3 participated in the AFL Paul Kelly Cup. With 2 girls teams and 2 boys teams, our students, parent team managers and teachers were very busy throughout the day but enjoyed every moment. Our 4 teams gave everything a go and even braved the rain for their last few games. Our Year 5 boys team just missed out on a place in the semi-finals. This gala day has become an annual event for our school due to the positive feedback we receive from students and parents. We look forward to being involved in 2025. A huge thank you to our parent helpers who assisted our teams on the day!

Sutherland Sharks Basketball Gala Day

Mr Taylor went along to the first Basketball Gala Day with our Year 3 and 4 boys. It was a fun day spent at the stadium playing amongst friends while learning the rules of Basketball. Thank you to Sutherland Basketball for hosting a very organised gala day.

Our next gala day is for our year 3 and 4 girls on Monday 17th June. Parents are required to transport their child to and from this event. When the draw is released, it will be shared via COMPASS.

We require all jerseys borrowed for these gala days to be washed and returned to the school office at your earliest convenience.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football is an Olympic Sport in 2028 and the NFL is putting a lot of resources Worldwide for the promotion of the sport. Our school will be involved in this program which at this point will be targeted at our current year 4, year 5 and year 6 students. Miss Devlin has completed an online course to implement during Physical Education here at school. We are awaiting for the arrival of some new equipment to facilitate this program. One of our classes will also participate in a free demonstrated lesson by a trained professional.  Next term, our school will be entering the NSW State Tournament. The proposed date for this tournament is Friday the 9th of August with a venue to be confirmed. Details regarding this tournament are still yet to be released.

The winning team from this day will receive a funded trip to Brisbane to compete at the National Cup. The winning primary school of the national cup will continue to receive a funded trip to the Pro Bowl in the US.

We look forward to sharing and promoting this new sport right here at St Pat’s.
