School Saving Bonus

You may have seen the recent announcement of the School Saving Bonus, as part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25. This one-off support will include $400 for each eligible student to help families cover the costs of school uniforms and activities. It will be available to parents and carers of every child enrolled in a Victorian government school in 2025. Cash will not be paid directly to individuals or families. Instead, families will receive the bonus as credits on their school accounts that will help meet the costs of your children’s activities and uniforms. There will be more information and guidance about the School Saving Bonus in Term 3, 2024, ahead of its implementation in 2025.

Teachers as Learners

We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated staff team who are really invested in continuing to build and refine their skills and practices in order to support the best possible outcomes for our students. This term alone staff have engaged with a number of mandated, school choice and voluntary professional learning opportunities in a variety of leadership, curriculum and student wellbeing areas.

-Leading collaboration and collective efficacy

-Aspiring School Leaders

-Planning Challenging Mathematical tasks to engage all learners

-The new Mathematics Curriculum 2.0

-Writing Moderation

-Foetal Alcohol Syndrome

-Dysgraphia

-Oppositional Defiance Disorder

-Assistive Technology

-Anaphylaxis Management

-Child Safety Standards Implementation

-Mandatory Reporting

As you can see from the list, teaching is an increasingly complex role and the BPS staff really go the extra mile for our students.

Special Visitors Morning

It was so wonderful to see the school brimming with people for our annual Special Visitors morning. The children get such a kick out of sharing their classrooms with some of the special people in their lives and was lovely receiving lots of positive feedback and gratitude from our visitors about how nice it was to able to be able to be part of the learning with their loved ones.

Coming Soon...

Teachers in our Wellbeing Team are working busily behind the scenes on the finishing touches to the our upcoming Wellbeing Week. While our Curriculum Day on Tuesday June 11 will see our staff's professional development focus on student wellbeing, the remainder of the week will be designated Wellbeing Week, providing a host of activities and events to learn about and promote the importance of caring for our wellbeing. Stay tuned for more information from the Wellbeing Team in the lead up.

Building Project Update:

These last two weeks have seen a hive of activity on the building site. Last Friday saw a large crane onsite to help install the window awnings. Glaziers continue to install windows, cladding continues to encase the external walls, plaster continues to be hung in the upper level and a concrete pump and trucks visited earlier in the week to build the internal staircase and connecting pathway between the new building and our Senior School building. Landscapers have also arrived to begin shaping the outside areas around the new building.

It will be really different sitting here eventually, and typing newsletter pages without the soundtrack of buzz saws, bobcats, beeping machines and builder's banter filling the air. We can't wait!

Couldn't do it without you...

Finally, a very BIG thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers.
