Defence Mentor

REMEMBRANCE DAY - 11th NOVEMBER...

A field of poppies have adorned the school grounds at St Mary's College to honor and pay our respect on Remembrance Day.  Thank-you to our students for their help in planting these poppies.

Several of our primary Defence students also assisted in the RSL Poppy Appeal selling badges before school in the lead up to Remembrance Day.  Poppy wreaths were made during our Defence lunchtime activities for all homeroom classes where Freya, Rory & Alexis were amazing helpers in distributing these to all prayer tables throughout the whole college.

LITURGY...

On 11th November, Mrs Gough our Director of Faith & Mission guided our Students in delivering a moving Remembrance Day College liturgy including prayers, readings and moments of reflection.  Several of our Defence students participated in a moving symbolic procession.  We are very proud of the wonderful job by all of our students.  Our College choir performed alongside Mr Allen on guitar Mr Dudfield on his bugle, creating a moving tribute to the sacrifices made for our freedom and to honor those who gave their lives in service to their country.

RSL SERVICE...

St Mary's College attended the Remembrance Day service held by the Seymour RSL at the 'Soldiers Memorial Hospital' Gardens at Seymour Health. The community came together to honor and remember those who have fallen before us. A moving service was held as we paused to reflect on the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.  A wreath was layed by our College representatives Liesl Rayner, Crystal Cox and Principal Mr Smith.

St Mary's will continue to observe this day and encourage students to carry forward the spirit of remembrance in their daily lives.
