Stage Two
Maths
Stage 2 have been working very hard this term. In Maths we have tackled some challenging topics, I am very proud of how well they have done in our most recent unit of Time. Students have learnt all about the parts of a clock, how to tell time, and how to use their knowledge of time to answer word problems. We have had so much fun, and even enjoyed making our own clock as a class.
Writing
This term in writing we have read two texts, ‘Kicking Goals with Goodsy and Magic’ by Antia Heiss and ‘Diary of an AFL Legend’ by Flint Shamini. These texts have helped us understand persuasive writing techniques. Stage 2 did very well when presenting their role model speeches, and are now enjoying turning their research into comic strips to go along with their presentations. They have worked very hard and have all made me very proud. I know they are excited to share these with you at the end of the term!
Geography
Our class have had a lot of fun this term reading the book ‘My Place’ by Nadia Wheatly. This book started our journey into investigating ‘our place’. We have been learning about Rural and Urban places, what brings people to an area, and how places are similar and different. We are thrilled to announce that our class will be attending an excursion to Windy Station to further explore this unit. There will be more information to follow.
Christmas Prayer Wreath
Coming in to the Advent season, stage 2 came together to write some prayers for our school, families and world to spread a feeling of warmth and togetherness. This wreath is displayed on our door and reminds us to continue to be kind and show our Christian values in this time filled with joy that can find us very busy. I extend our prayers to the St Josephs community.
