YEAR 4 & YEAR 6 INCURSION

On Thursday 6 December, Year 4 had a science incursion and learnt about space. First we had to name all the planets and sort them based on their distance from the sun. Then we made our own space rover model that could travel on rocky, volcanic or liquid surfaces. Then we did a chemical reaction on how the rocket would take off to space.

In our incursion, we learnt about the solar system. We started off by naming the planets and putting them in order. Next we explored gravity by using tightly enclosed fabric, a weight and marbles. Next we made a model of a space rover that could withstand travelling on liquid, rocky and heated surfaces. We completed an experiment using water and fizzy tablets in a small bottle. We put the cork on the top of the bottle and shook it causing it to pop off because of the gases and this showed us how rockets take off. This was a great, fun experience and we learned a lot about space.
