Principal's Message

Linda Buckeridge: Principal

Oh What a Night!!

Our End of Year Extravaganza was yet again a wonderful experience for everyone involved! I would almost go as far as to say that these were some of the best performances we have seen!!

A huge thank you to the staff for the preparations and assisting in the smooth running of such a successful event.

I'd also like to acknowledge all the families that came along to support their children and enjoy a fun-filled Hillsmeade community event to finish the year.

A big congratulations to all of our Christmas Raffle winners! A special mention to Aaron and his family on winning the big first prize of a bicycle and hamper!!

Please Help Hillsmeade!

We ask you to please assist us with the Parent Volunteer Payment.

Recently we sent out information for 2025 about the book pack and volunteer payments. We ask very kindly that you please at least pay for the book packs we will be providing students.

The School Savings Bonus CANNOT be used to cover the cost of book packs and also cannot be used for the voluntary payments. So we ask that you help us out a bit with your valued contribution to keep the school running! Thank you so much in advance!!

Year 6 2024

This week we are celebrating the final full week of school for our Year 6 students. We will most certainly miss each and every one of our Year 6 students and families leaving and hope that they make the journey back to visit us throughout their secondary schooling. A huge congratulations to each and everyone of you and to those who were successful in attaining a special award at Graduation - well done! You thoroughly deserve your accolade. Good luck as you tackle your next adventure!

Step Up has commenced!

We have enjoyed spending time this week in our new classes for 2025. A huge thank you to the community for supporting the school in the class placement for your child, for next year. It is a complex task we undertake each year, with many contributing factors in the process. We put our students at the forefront of all decision making across the school to ensure a safe, happy and thriving school community. Resilience is one of our core values at Hillsmeade and when change occurs, it most certainly tests our resilience. It is amazing to see how our students are embracing this new chapter they will embark on.

Friday 20th December

CURRICULUM DAY!

No students required at school.

Semester 2 Reports

Teachers have been working diligently throughout the term to create end of year reports for your child/children. Please remember that these reports reflect the last 6 months and provide an overall picture of your child's achievements. Reports will be available to families via Compass on Thursday 19th December.

Staffing Update

As many of you may know, we announced at the Extravaganza the names of all staff who will be leaving us, or changing from their current permanent teaching roles. I have previously announced these staff, however recently we found out that Mr Jeff McGann will also be leaving HPS to take on a leadership role at Marnebek School.

We wish all staff that are leaving us: Martine Ziino, Jacqui Sharp, Tabitha Carter, Jill Mouette, Vicki Christophi, Brendan Willis and Jeff McGann all the very best as they take on their new roles. We are so grateful for their work and they will be truly missed.

Congratulations 2025 Student Leaders!

Recently at assembly we announced the student leaders for next year. We were inundated with applications and it was a tough and rigorous process that both staff and students followed to successfully appoint the following students to their positions.

Please note that there are two remaining positions - SRC Leaders - that will be announced early 2025 once the SRC has been formed.

Stay Safe and Happy Holidays!

As this is our final newsletter for the year, I wish everyone the most fun-filled break with family and friends. We have truly enjoyed working with you all throughout 2024 and can't wait to do it all again next year. To those families and students leaving Hillsmeade - we wish you all the very best and thank you for your ongoing support of all things Hillsmeade PS. Don't be strangers!

I regularly say this and I want to reiterate how extremely proud I am to be the Principal of Hillsmeade Primary School. We have high expectations and maintain a focus on the academic, social and emotional growth of all students. But at the same time, we sure do have some fun and ensure that all of our students are engaged and enjoy their time at school.

Take care of yourselves this holiday season and we will see you all ready to go, if you are in Year 1-6, on Wednesday 29th January and Monday 3rd February, if you are in Prep.

Happy holidays to you all!
