Feast of Christ the King
Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King. It is the last Sunday of the Church's year. We must get ready for the kingdom of God that Jesus promised. It is a kingdom of truth and a kingdom of loving hearts.
As members of the Church we are called upon to live and act as the people of the Kingdom. More importantly, we are commissioned to proclaim this Kingdom to all people and to work with them to make it a reality here on earth. We are wittnesses to the seeds of God's Kingdom taking root and growing through people's good works. Together we can continue to work towards God's peace here on earth.
"Never see a need without doing something about it."
This short but powerful prayer encapsulates the essence of St. Mary MacKillop's life and mission. It reflects her deep compassion for the less fortunate and her unwavering commitment to serving others, especially the poor and marginalized.
By living this motto, St. Mary MacKillop embraced a life of selfless service, always seeking to meet the needs of those around her. Her prayer challenges us to be attentive to the needs of others and to respond with love and action, just as she did throughout her life.
As we enter the season of Advent, we are reminded to be proactive in our care for others and to serve as instruments of God's love and mercy in the world. This sacred time invites us to be attentive to the struggles and suffering of those around us, inspiring us to alleviate their burdens through acts of kindness and compassion.
May we embrace the call to be people of service, reflecting the face of Christ to those we encounter. Let us walk together in hope, love, and generosity as we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ's birth.
